Women’s Health the Winner with World Congress on Endometriosis 2025 in the Calendar for Sydney
The Board of the World Endometriosis Society announced at its Congress in Edinburgh over the weekend, that it has selected Sydney to host the World Congress on Endometriosis in May 2025.
The World Endometriosis Society (WES) promotes the exchange of clinical and scientific experience, thought, and investigation among those committed to advancing the understanding of endometriosis to improve treatments and quality of life for women with the disease.
Secured by the Australian Society of Endometriosis working with the bidding specialists at BESydney, the Sydney Congress will be held at the International Convention Centre Sydney and will attract more than 1000 people to the harbour city generating an estimated $3.9million in direct expenditure over four days.

“The World Congress on Endometriosis is unique since it not only highlights well-known experts to share their wisdom but elevates new and emerging investigators through abstract-driven plenary sessions to ensure that cutting edge technologies, ideas, and advances are adding to our understanding of endometriosis. Those 120 plus plenary presentations, based on the quality of abstracts submitted, are what make our Congress ground-breaking,” he said.
Professor of Life Course Epidemiology in Women’s Health at the University of Queensland, Gita Mishra is the Scientific President for the Congress. She notes that, “Not only is the World Congress on Endometriosis the pre-eminent event to advance our understanding of patient treatment, patient care, and causes and consequences of disease on the lives of countless women. But it also represents an important opportunity to showcase Australia’s progress as the first country to enact a government funded National Action Plan for Endometriosis in 2018, that has created a foundation for the future, through capacity building, collaboration, and community engagement. This model has since been adopted by many other countries around the world.”

The women’s health discussion will continue on into 2026 in Sydney with the previously announced Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG) Congress. Sydney has a strong global reputation for its robust health and life sciences industry and ground-breaking facilities such as the Westmead Health and Innovation Precinct which continues to attract important global health events each year. Coming up on the Sydney calendar in 2023, major health and life science events include the FDI World Dental Congress, World Conference on Family Doctors (WONCA) and the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.
